Are you adding graphs or charts to your documents? It is crucial to ensure that your charts, such as bar charts, line graphs, and pie charts, meet the necessary Color Contrast Requirements. This includes meeting the requirements for the use of color (WCAG 1.4.1), text contrast (WCAG 1.4.3), and non-text contrast (WCAG 1.4.11). All images will also need meaningful alternative text to be considered accessible. In our previous webinar with Rachel Reeves we explored good and bad examples of bar charts, pie charts, line graphs, and maps to learn how to have accessible graphs and charts.
Learning Outcomes
- Reviewed the accessible design of graphs and charts.
- Discussed solutions for common color contrast failures.
- Discovered best practices when creating alternative text.
