PDF Accessibility Basics: Accessibility Testing (Digital Accessibility Webinar)

Presented on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 10 am to 11 am PT

Creating accessible PDF documents is essential to most organizations’ digital accessibility process. However, many people do not test PDF documents adequately to ensure compliance. To test PDFs successfully for accessibility, a careful process that considers the WCAG requirements, end-user needs, and how the document integrates with assistive technology is necessary. In our previous webinar with Michael Parker we demonstrated the steps required to ensure PDF compliance, combining automated and manual testing processes.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the components of a comprehensive PDF testing process, including automated and manual testing tools.
  • Understand what elements to check manually and strategies to test these.
  • Learn efficient techniques to use a screen reader to test PDF documents.
